Floored

This piece was created as an echo to a blast from the past. Sprawled out on the kitchen floor, mouth and hands full of donuts. This was during a time that I lived with hella roommates back during school years in Chicago. This painting is based off a photo of myself taken by my best friend roommate ten years ago. I felt the gorging necessities of the consumer in this painting while making it, even with a mouth full of donuts, we fill are carts with our next bites. Wrapped around our fingers like trophies, we lift our hands full of treats. Always ready for the next filler, to absorb the void of silence, of sadness, of emptiness, and scarred by our patterns we sit obeying the system. Representing this feeling we all have of laying in our truths, eating our feelings and embracing the mess.

Repurposed wooden shelf.
